Floquet-Mode Traveling-Wave Parametric Amplifiers

چکیده
Simultaneous ideal quantum measurements of multiple single-photon-level signals would advance applications in information processing, metrology, and astronomy, but require the first amplifier to be simultaneously broadband, limited, directional. However, conventional traveling-wave parametric amplifiers support broadband amplification at cost increased added noise are not genuinely directional due non-negligible nonlinear backward wave generation. In this work, we introduce a new class which encode Floquet modes system. Such mode prevent leakage overcome trade-off between efficiency (QE) bandwidth. Crucially, strongly suppress forward-backward coupling therefore readily integrable with qubits, clearing another major obstacle towards measurements. Furthermore, insensitive out-of-band impedance mismatch, otherwise may lead gain ripples, oscillations, instability amplifiers. Finally, show that Josephson implementation can achieve $>\!20\,$dB QE $\eta/\eta_{\mathrm{ideal}}\!> 99.9\%$ limit over more than an octave The proposed scheme is also widely applicable other platforms, such as kinetic inductance optical

متن کاملSymmetric and Asymmetric Mode Interaction in High-Power Traveling Wave Amplifiers: Experiments and Theory
High-power microwave amplifier operation has been studied for use in a number of applications. The performance of the amplifiers has been marred, in some cases, by pulse shortening of the microwave signal. A possible source of the shortening is the loss of the beam due to hybrid HEM11 mode interaction with the beam. In this paper, we describe experiments which investigate high-power operation a...
متن کاملComputer Simulation of Intermodulation Distortion in Traveling Wave Tube Amplifiers
The intermodulation performance of a helix TWT was computed using a large-signal disc model with two, three and eight correlated carriers and also using the program IMAL which models a generalized nonlinearity described by its single carrier transfer characteristics. The results obtained by both methods showed good agreement. The inter-modulation performance of a TWT for both correlated and unc...
متن کاملOptimization of gain in traveling-wave optical parametric amplifiers by tuning the offset between pump- and signal-waist locations.
We present experimental demonstration and modeling of the optimization of a phase-sensitive optical parametric amplifier by tuning the relative position between the pump and signal beam waists along the propagation direction. At the optimum position, the pump beam focuses after the signal beam, and this departure from colocated waists increases with increasing pump power. Such optimization lead...
